A will is only as good as the clarity of its wording. We draft yours so that the people who will one day act on it — your executors, your family, HMRC — cannot reasonably misread what you intended. That means precise language, properly appointed executors and guardians where needed, clear gifts to named beneficiaries, and provisions that hold up if circumstances change: a beneficiary dies before you, a marriage ends, a business is sold, a child is born.

Alongside the will itself, we look at the wider picture. That includes how inheritance tax will fall on your estate and what can sensibly be done about it, whether a trust is appropriate for younger or vulnerable beneficiaries, how jointly owned property will pass, and whether lasting powers of attorney should sit alongside your will so someone you trust can act if you lose capacity. Where it helps, we explain the options in plain English and you choose; we do not push structures you do not need.

The point of all this is practical. A well-drafted will spares the people you leave behind from guesswork, disputes and avoidable tax. You deal with one named solicitor throughout, so the person drafting your will is the person who understands your circumstances — and, if your family later instructs us on probate, the person who can help carry your wishes through correctly.

What does Wills & estate planning involve?
Wills and estate planning involve setting out clearly, in legally valid documents, who should inherit what you leave behind, who should handle your affairs, and how to protect your family from unnecessary tax, delay or dispute. In practice, that usually means preparing a will, considering inheritance tax, and often putting lasting powers of attorney in place so someone you trust can act for you if you lose capacity. A named solicitor will talk it through with you in plain English and draft everything so it holds up when it matters.
How much does Wills & estate planning cost?
The cost depends on the complexity of your circumstances — a straightforward single Will is very different from planning that involves trusts, business assets or blended families — so we give you a clear, fixed fee once we understand what you need, before any work begins. That way there are no surprises, and you can decide with full information whether to proceed.
How long does Wills & estate planning take?
Most straightforward wills are drafted and signed within two to three weeks of our first conversation, allowing time for us to understand your circumstances properly and for you to review the draft carefully. More involved estate planning — for example, where there are trusts, business interests or inheritance tax to consider — typically takes four to six weeks, though we will always give you a clear timeline at the outset so you know exactly what to expect.

What our customers say

★★★★★
My mother's estate had a house, four bank accounts nobody could find and two siblings who were not speaking. It was dealt with in seven months and I did almost none of it.

★★★★★
I was told what would happen, when it would happen, and then it happened in that order. After a year of everything else going wrong, that mattered more than I can say.
David M.
Executor, Manchester
★★★★★
The inheritance tax position was not what I had assumed. They found two reliefs I had never heard of and explained both in language I could follow.
Priya S.
Executor, Altrincham
